GENUINE HQ GTS MONARO

Wish I still had this car - would be worth a fortune. Actually built by a customer of mine Ian Oakley.

I purchased it complete and raced it.
One of my biggest regrets was selling this car. This was a numbers matching 350 Chev powerplant that ran high ten second quarter mile passes.

1969 CAMARO

As a young boy growing up in New Zealand I found I had a passion for Australian (Holden) and American muscle cars (Camaros). One of my personal favourites was this 1969 model. I raced this car over a number of years at Meremere Dragstrip and Tokoroa Dragway where it ran 11.7 et’s.

ALTERED - SUPER GAS

During 1997 I got a little more serious… a newly purchased Altered in Super Gas.

In New Zealand I earned "The Champion Dragway Rookie of the Year" award for the season.

TURBO ALTERED

After waving goodbye to New Zealand I decided to try my luck in Australia. In 2004 when the new track opened at Western Sydney (WSID) I ran the Turbo Altered in the Modified bracket where I won many Top Qualifier medals.

This shot shows how we developed that car… over time the Turbo Altered ended up running low 6 second passes at well over 200mph.
It was a huge hit with fans for its unique turbo sound and it was often seen drifting sideways over the finish line …

SAINTY FUNNY CAR - MKI

This was the car originally by Rob Ambrosie funny car. I tested in this car a couple of times before the decision was made to build a brand new car.

In 2006-7 I was offered a drive with the Sainty Top Alcohol Drag Racing Team, driving their Top Alcohol 3000hp Funny Car.

BREAK THE RECORD

Whilst I temporarily moved to Melbourne to expand the business my good friend and fellow Modified racer Andrew Musgrave drove my Turbo Altered.

Our goal was to get the AA/MA ANDRA record for ET and mph - a record which had been set for several years.

We finally achieved this at the 2014 Australian Nationals where we were the Modified Top Qualifier and ran a record 6.39 second pass at 225mph.

SAINTY FUNNY CAR - MKII

In 2013 we debut a brand new car at Sydney Raceway. This car ran a Sainty Billet 3 valve engine and we raced for a couple of seasons before my accident in 2015.

We raced at many meetings and came Runner Up in "Top Comp" in our first year.

MSCN TURBO ALTERED

Meanwhile…

Work has recently begun with Andrew Musgrave on a brand new MSCN Turbo Altered Drag car.

It is a Bottica built chassis and the goal is to build a 5 second Altered.
This new build has a 580cid Chev power plant which will see more boost and will be FAST!

MOUNTAIN BIKE ADVENTURES

I Love My Bike…

A serious accident in the Funny car (see here for more) stopped my Race Career in its tracks. I was told I may never drive again…so…

I rode a bike!

I joined a group of friends for the Cape York Mountain Bike Adventure where I rode my mountain bike from the start of the dirt road in Cairns to the very tip of Australia. See the video here.

I rode a total of 1,800km that month in both preparation and on the actual ride - all on a mountain bike!

After a long layoff and with everybodys (my wifes) blessing I decided it was time…

In August 2017 we built the 410cid MSCN Sprint Car and we race in a new development series at Sydney Speedway in Parramatta which continues on until today.

We run all shows available, learn a lot and have a lot of fun in the process
I hired a drive in a Sprint Car and fell in love with racing all over again.…

FABIETTI - THE UNEXPECTED PHONE CALL

My office told me
"Maurice Fabietti is on the phone…
It's urgent…"

Fabietti said "Mate - I want you to drive my car"…

Of course it was an offer too good to refuse…

So now I now drive for the Holden ACDelco 3,500HP Pro Slammer Monaro Racing Team..

How cool is that…
After the initial shock of "Fabs" phone call - and some rearranging of an already too busy schedule - it's full speed ahead…

NO PRESSURE

NO LICENSE…

It was early July - I wasn't licensed yet - and my first introduction and drive of the Monaro was in front of the IHRA officials, team owner Maurice Fabietti and his experienced guys, Lucky and Mark Belleri (the current National Title Holders)….and less than two weeks to the first completion race

No pressure…I'm on top of this…
The ACDelco Holden Monaro is one of the plum seats in Australian Drag Racing… Like I said - no pressure…
